Trevor Joseph Halischuk

Trevor Joseph Halischuk

August 5th, 1984 – November 8, 2022

With immense heartache, we are sad to announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle, cousin, and father, Trevor Joseph Halischuk. Trevor passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 38 years of age.

Trevor was born August 5th, 1984, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He leaves to mourn his mother Kathy; father Garney, and stepmother Mel; his daughter Shyla; brothers Jason (Krista), Dylan; sister Lauren; nephew Bryson; his grandmothers, Chris Halischuk and Helen Jones, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandfathers Joe Halischuk and Harry Peacey.

Trevor worked at Agri-Tel Grain Ltd in Beausejour, Westfair Foods and then Brewers Distributors. Due to his illness, he couldn’t continue working. Although Trevor struggled with his illness, his illness never defined him. Trevor had a love for the outdoors as a young child, he played baseball and practised taekwondo. When he grew up, he grew to a whopping 6’7 ½” and wore size 16 shoes which earned him the nickname “gentle giant”.

Trevor always looked forward to spending time with his daughter Shyla. He lived for those special times and cherished all the cards Shyla made for him. He was so proud of her; she meant the world to him.

Trevor also loved spending time with his favorite and only nephew, Bryson. Trevor would always have a good laugh at the silly things Bryson would do. They loved to play video games together and Trevor was planning on teaching Bryson taekwondo.

Trevor had a heart of gold. He was kind, loving, and generous. He cared about his family and was always worried about them. It was the simple things in life that made him happy. He will always be remembered as our son, big brother, dad, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.

We’d like to thank family and friends for all the support during this difficult time.

And special thanks to Uncle Jack and Deli.

We want to thank Trevor’s nurse practitioner, Julia, for her outstanding care, looking after Trevor over the years.

We’d also like to thank Voyage Funeral Home.

A Heart of gold stopped beating
Working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
Leaves and flowers may wither
The golden sun may set but the hearts that loved you dearly
Are the ones that won’t forget.
We Love you Forever!

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 9, 2022 at 1:00 pm.

Little cousin you will always be in my heart. You are all what your obituary says about you and more. Over the years I was able to have small visits at Christmas and birthdays. You were always involved helping by playing Santa and doing things so the little ones enjoyed also. And pets were your friends too.Not to forget our Covid visits in the store parking lot as you waited for your friend, who you were helping to get him and his food home. We have lost a special young man.You will not be forgotten Trevor.R.I.P.

  2. I worked a few shifts with Trevor at Brewers Distributors before I retired in 2013. From our 1st meeting, finding out who he was and related too. It was my impression that he was a great young man with outstanding North End Qualities. I thought too myself Garney is very proud of this young man !!

    1. Garney…I know it’s been a lifetime but my heart goes out to you on the loss of your beautiful son! RIP young man. My condolences to everyone who loved Trevor.
