Shirley Lysak

March 13, 1946 – November 28, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Lysak on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Fred Douglas Lodge after a long battle with Dementia at the age of 77.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Ron); son Jeff (Vanessa); grandson Austin; sister Grace; and brother David as well as numerous beloved relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Anne Zamkotowich, brother Robert Zamkotowich, and sister-in-law Diane Zamko.

Shirley was born on a small farm in Medika, MB and after moving to Winnipeg she got a job working for Woods-Dryden Paper Bags Limited. After raising a family she went back into the workforce as a supervisor with Bi-Way Stores and then eventually retired working at Red River Packaging Products Ltd. Shirley had a unique sense of humour and an infectious laugh. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Our family would like to thank the staff in the Maple/Elm Unit at Fred Douglas Lodge for their compassionate care over the last three years.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave, in Winnipeg, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

  2. Teresa & Ron. So sorry for your loss. Alzheimers is such a heartbreaking disease. My Dad had it also. Teresa, keep all the early memories close to your heart before this disease took over your mother. Sending hugs to you both. RIP Shirley.

  3. Regretfully logistics force my absence.at what l expect to be a nice service.
I offer these words in my adsence:
A ceremony of sorrow and tears
But also a celebration of Life Love Family Friends and Faith
A reflection of life’s sorrows that brought tears and pain at times, perhaps
But a celebration of the joys of happiness, togetherness, pride of accomplisments and an abundance of laughter and humor, while here on earth
A celebration of the grace of years by God on this earth
A celebration of the grace of God into the everlasting
Wishing peace in the arms of many in eternity, inevitably at this point of our generation,
    Gone from our presence here
But everlasting in our hearts and soul
God Bless Auntie Shirley and Family
    Brad.
