Rose-Marie (Picton) Clark

Rose Marie Picton Clark

On September 26, 2023 our mom, sister, aunt, grandmother Rose Clark passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface, at the age of 79.

Rose is survived by her children Chris (Sandi), Suzanne (Glenn), Cory (Krista), Robin (Jennifer) & Tricia; grandchildren Chris Jr (Betty), Lance (Karen), Kyla (Nicholas), Brynlee, Lachlan, Caitlyn, Bruce, Taylor, Sierra (Jesse) and Aaron; great grandchildren Justice, Paisley-Ann, Liam, Bella, Carter, Isaiah, Emrick, Evelyn and Arabella.

Rose leaves to mourn her half-brothers Gaston, and Laurent (Joanne); brothers and sisters: Owen (Marlene), Florence (Tony), René, Raymond (Shirley), Michelle (Gérald), Ronnie, Annette (Richard), Rita, Collette (John), and Dolorès (Chris); and also left behind are her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Philippe Normandeau, Barbara Picton, Brenda Picton, Terry Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Edythe and Camille Picton, half-brothers and sisters Joseph (Henriette), Marie, Monique, Reine (Ray Durksen), baby Pierre; brothers and sisters Georgette, Georges, Francine, Maurice, and Pierre “Pete”; and her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Jake Enns, Lauraine (Ronald) and Jeannot St. Vincent (Rita), and her husband Garry; nephews Dylan and Billy.

Like many others of her generation, Rose left the family farm in Haywood at a young age with the dream for ‘bigger and better’ opportunities. Along with her sisters Georgette and Francine, they all did a few years of ‘room & board’ with families in Winnipeg where they would go off to work but then did many chores around the house to supplement their rent.

As her sisters would turn to further education and work in the health care field, Rose studied to work as a psychiatric nurse in Portage la Prairie. Over the years, raising her children in Carman and Roland, Manitoba, Rose would always be busy with a variety of hobbies and ‘fixes’ around the house. Everyone has been gifted with items she knit or crocheted, pottery, and quilts; handmade cards and crafts. Rose was very skilled with a sewing machine and made many outfits for family and friends.

While Garry was driving the cream truck, he often came home to find Rose had knocked down a wall and or built some type of cabinet or table to suit the needs of her growing family. She enjoyed looking after her children, the house and the garden too! And she even made time to work outside the home; for a short while cleaning the church, helping out in a restaurant and then some home care looking in on neighbours in the community. She was always willing to help anyone.

Through all her life she always had a great sense of humour and everyone will confess she played one or more jokes on them. And when the radio was on, she always loved to sing and dance. Rose was devoted to ensuring her family had an abundance of love, nurturing, humour and laughter.

For the last 30+ years Actionmarguerite St. Boniface (Taché Hospital) has been home for Rose. She took great pride in keeping her little room clean and tidy, happy for when family came to visit.

She would often help staff tidy up the dining room and other common areas on her floor. Although at times Rose had some difficulty with her ability to communicate and comprehend conversations, her smiles and hugs certainly told us that she was extremely proud of her children and anxious to visit with her grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank all the compassionate staff at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface for their heartwarming care and kindness while Rose lived there.

As per Rose’s wishes cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
