  1. I had the pleasure of knowing Bob and his partner Martin.
I will miss Bob’s dry, twisted sense of humour. His random texts at all hours of the night and very early mornings.
Bob’s love for life came through in all of his stories and he always knew the best places to eat and visit no matter what part of the world you were going to.

He has been missed by so many.

  2. My deepest sympathies to his partner Martin and his family. I knew Robert from the 1980’s and 1990’s. After, I moved to Montreal in 1995, we lost track of each other. We had many good discussions about life and he had a great sense of humor.

  3. What sad news
I was Bobs supervisor when he works as a childcare worked for Child and Family services in Winnipeg Manitoba. I got to know Bobs his care and kindness he gave the many difficult children he worked and connected with. Over time I came to know Bob on a personal level and a friend. I enjoyed his philosophy on life his dry humor and calmness never being flustered over the crises he dealt with in his work and in life.
After retirement I left Manitoba and lost contact with Bob. I still have framed print on my wall that Bob gave me when I left the agency.
To his Family and partner my deepest sympathy
    Maggie

  4. This was such sad news to see (thanks for the obit this weekend about Bob’s death in March). I too had lost contact with Bob over the decades. I knew him in the 70s through work and I always was so happy to bump into him over the years. He was so interesting, kind, open-hearted, and funny. The photo above is perfect. Whenever I ran into Bob it felt joyful even if he was admitting to bumps in the road; I always felt enriched by the way he spoke, engaged and could wind things into humour and true compassion. Hello Martin – I am so glad he found you. To all, I join in grieving a unique human being and spirit.

  5. Such a brief time we shared, I always looked forward to seeing you, and my hope it that we will meet again…
Sending my love and a hug to Martin and Bob’s family

  6. This is such tragic news. Bob was an important influence in my young adult life. He did much to get me involved in politics and social justice issues and was a mentor in many ways, helping channel my teenage punk angst into productive directions. Bob made me aware of and encouraged me to go to the Cho!ces Youth Activist Retreat in 1999, which was a formative and life-changing experience. Bob also got me volunteering in a support/mentorship role with youth, which led to me working as a family support worker for several years, experiences that still deeply shape me today.

Most importantly Bob was a good friend who was incredibly generous with his time and concern for others. Bob helped people from all walks of life, both with their personal struggles and development but also to engage in pressing political and community issues in his down-to-earth, folksy and humorous way. I will always remember walking down the street with him, saying hello to nearly everyone he passed. His outgoing nature meant that being in public with Bob meant always running into someone who knew him, and having coffee the neighbourhood meant a steady stream of visitors.

I was very sad to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed.

    Hey Bob

I thought of you many times as our paths crossed many times. You were a huge inspiration in my life when you worked at Mountain group home, you believed in me. You introduced me to the band “Whitesnake” before they became popular. Thanks for the memories and enjoy the journey 🙏❤️🦅
