In Loving Memory of Nicholas Michel Frising

1928 – 2023

Nicholas (Nick) Michel Frising was the eldest of 8, born on November 18, 1928 to parents Michel Frising and Anne Mersch in Diekirch, Luxembourg.

After school he worked odd jobs including his favorite one in a candy shop (he loved sweets).

Nicholas served in the Luxembourg army in Diekirch. Having an adventurist spirit, Nicholas had a dream of moving to Canada. He travelled to Canada and on the third trip decided to move to Quebec in 1952. Nicholas worked in the logging industry for many years until his retirement.

Nicholas was survived by his sister Mariechen Uliani-Frising and family, Udine Italy; son Michel David Frising (Donnie), Winnipeg, MB; daughter Sheila Marie Frising (Ted), Winnipeg, MB; granddaughter April Preisentanz (Ryan), Kenora, ON; grandson Paul Baker; great grandchildren Ethan, Dillon, and Elyssan. Also, the many relatives who reside in various parts of Europe.

Nicholas was pre-deceased by his parents and 7 siblings as well his daughter Kimberly Anne Frising who passed on August 5, 2020.

Nicholas had many pastimes such as watching his beloved Montreal Canadians, Toronto Blue Jays, Le Tour de France, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Nicholas was an avid gardener that he enjoyed up until he moved to Kenora District Home for the Aged however, even then, he could be found in the courtyard admiring numerous flowers and vegetation.

There will be a celebration of life privately held where Nicholas’ ashes will be scattered.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the District of Kenora Home for the Aged for their care and kindness.

Nicholas Michel Frising will be sadly missed by the family. We will love you forever!

  1. To the family, my sincere condolences

I remember many great times with “uncle Nick” while growing up. Whether he showed up in Ignace on his bike,!or a van outfitted for his next adventure.
    With fond memories
