June 27, 1939 – December 16, 2018

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend. Joan passed away on December 16, 2018, at the Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.

Joan leaves to mourn, her husband, Ed Moskal, her eldest daughter, Brenda Bradley (Jamie), her youngest daughter Michelle Moskal (Aaron) and her much loved grandchildren, Taylor and Carter Bradley; brother Bob Ferguson (Sharon); brother Jack Ferguson (widower of Arlene); sister Chris Galbraith (Bruce); brother-in-law, Joe Moskal (Dawn) along with many nieces and nephews and other beloved relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her father and mother; John and Mary Ferguson and her mother-in-law; Pat Moskal.

Joan spent her life devoted to family. She was a hard-working woman, who from a very early age, knew that hard work and dedication is how things get done. She passed that value on to her children and her grandchildren.  Joan worked at Safeway, Simon Day, Dominion Hat, Baker-Zivot Law Office and for many years for Walsh, Micay & Company, where she formed many valued friendships.

Her loving husband, Ed will be at a loss without Joan’s guidance and support. A new normal will need to be found, but not without a heaviness that weighs on his broken heart.

Her affection for her daughters and their partners showed through her actions. Her weekly shopping dates with Michelle will be missed tremendously, while her partner, Aaron and his children, will feel the loss of Joan as well.  Her frequent check-ins with Brenda will be a difficult void to fill.  Jamie, her son-in-law, will miss his conversations and impromptu visits with “Marilyn.”  Her furry granddog, Lexi, will miss her endless supply of treats.

Once her grandchildren came along, Joan had a renewed lease on life, filling every moment of her own and their lives with immense love and undying support. She believed in them, even when they did not and just knew that they could do anything they put their minds to.  She supported their goals and right until her last breath, encouraged them to complete everything that they set out to do. Almost as though she planned it, she waited until each of them completed their university exams before passing. Her message to them would be to continue with their endeavours, keeping her in their hearts along the way.

At this time of year, it is especially difficult to say goodbye to Joan but please know that she would want all of you to carry on with your traditions and keep her in your thoughts.

A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, December 21, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada in Joan’s honour.
