Lawrence Petroni

Lawrence Petroni

1949 – 2022

With his family by his side, Lawrence Alfred Petroni of Morris passed away peacefully on May 7, 2022 at the Morris Hospital.

Lawrence was born in Winnipeg in 1949 to Samuel and Isabela Petroni (Shinnie). A high-spirited youth, Lawrence was always happy to share stories, such as the time he bought a car just so he could go to Victoria Beach, or when he and his cousin bought a gas station.

Well-known in the auto industry, Lawrence had sold vehicles to hundreds of people in Emerson, Morris, and Selkirk. To his last days, he was always interested in talking about cars, and he always enjoyed “going for a drive”.

Family was important to Lawrence, and his family have so many memories of the trips they took. He and Linda had a spot at Perch Bay Resort in Keewatin for many years, where they made many lifelong friends, and did a lot of fishing.

Lawrence leaves behind his wife of over 51 years, Linda, sister Janice Amborski (Greg), daughters Cheryl (Scott Crick) and Kristy, and granddaughters Elisabeth and Grace Crick.

The family would like to thank the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre and the Morris Hospital for their kindness and care in Lawrence’s last days.

Cremation has taken place, a celebration of life will be held Sat June 18,2022 11:30 AM at Manitoba Stampede Saloon, Morris, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage a donation to The Morris and Area Foundation.

Linda and family. So sorry for your loss. Lawrence was a great husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to us. We all had great times having bonfires and especially our many happy hours at the lake. He will be deeply missed.

Linda and family, you know how much I loved the time I worked for you. Such great memories that have been with me for decades. I will always smile when I think of sharing laughs with Lawrence and there’s been lots of them over the years. I hope memories of him will put a smile on your face in years to come.

  3. I will always have fond memories of time spent with Lawrence at Perch Bay. The bonfires, happy hours, fish fries, mornings on the deck, the stories, the laughter and always, the music.
He will always be remembered with a smile and a warm heart.

We are sending so much love and support all the way from BC. We are here for you day and night, just call. More importantly we are grateful we have had the opportunity to have met Lawrence a handful of times. It is very easy to appreciate someone who has such a large character and such a loving family that surrounds him. I am even more grateful you all got to be around him in his last days and moments. I could only imagine what love he must have felt looking up at you all there for him. God bless you all and God Lee his soul and give him rest until you all meet again, and then forever more! 🙂

  5. I will always remember the good times we had at Perch Bay. The bonfires, the happy hours, morning coffee, wiener roasts, fish fries, the stories, the laughs and of course the music, always the music.
Lawrence was a great man and I know that you will miss him dearly. He will be remembered with a warm heart.

  6. Dear Linda and your family, we are so deeply sorry for the passing of your husband Lawrence. Although we didn’t know him very well what we didn’t know about him was that he was deeply loved by everyone he met. We would like to give our sincere condolences to you and your family. Bryan and Edna French
