1944 – 2023
We regret to announce that John Saites, 79, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2023.
John was born in Krokilio, Greece, 1944. He was predeceased by his son Nick, brothers Bill and Kostas, and his sisters, Aphrodite, Polixeni, Constandina, and Vasiliki (Koula).
He is survived by his brother Gregory and his sister Athanasia and many nieces and nephews who loved him.
John was a respected businessman and restaurateur. He was the owner of Daly Burgers on Corydon Ave and The Burger Place on Portage Ave. Even after John retired, he continued to enjoy working at his friends’ restaurants.
He took pride in serving at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, he was a member of AHEPA, and happily volunteered at Folklorama Greek Pavilion for many years. He enjoyed golfing and traveling to the US and Greece to visit family and friends. He will be missed.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave, Winnipeg, MB.
Interment to follow the service at Brookside Cemetery.
