April 24, 1974 – March 1, 2024
Sadly, on March 1, 2024, Jeffrey Walashek passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Leah of 23 years, and daughters Emma and Julie.
Jeff was born to Bernadette and Walter (both deceased) in Selkirk on April 24, 1974. Jeff grew up with his siblings, Walter (Tammy), Geraldine (Walter) and David (Marla) in St. Andrews. He met his wife Leah in Winnipeg and married shortly after. His daughters Emma and Julie were both born at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
Jeff and Leah moved to Transcona when Jeff started at Winnipeg Transit as a bus operator. He had many other skills and would take on extra jobs in renovations and construction. As the family years went by Jeff loved camping, playing cards, BBQs, relaxing with friends and remodelling our house. A new adventure was needed at this point.
Jeff and his family moved to Matlock, MB in 2016. After moving they renovated the whole house, cleaned the property up, got chickens (built a coop), got goats (built a barn) and tried his hand at meat birds and pigs. He put in a huge garden and learned about canning and preserving.
He also liked to get away and ride his motorcycle. Jeff was someone you could always count on, no matter what the day or time was, he’d be there. He will be missed by many family members and friends.
Jeff’s biggest wish was to have a huge pig roast in the summer. We will be honouring this. Please contact the family as the summer approaches.
