IMG 2040

July 30, 1945 – January 29, 2023

It is with the deepest heartache we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather Gary Selk on January 29, 2023.

Gary was born on July 30, 1945, to the late Harry and Mary Selk.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine of 55 years; his sons Trevor (Geri-Lynne), Daniel, Troy (Dawn); daughter Brenda (Kenny); grandchildren Addison, Gavin, Autumn and Alexis; sister in law Elaine and family; brother in law Wayne and family, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gary was a captain with the Fire and Paramedic Services for over 30 years. He was passionate about his work, but family was always number one, and he retired in 1997.

He loved playing football and baseball in his younger years, which lead him to be an amazing coach. He created the “Peanut League” for underprivileged children in the 80’s. He exemplified the true meaning of a coach who truly cared that every child was able to play the sport they loved.

He was a devoted fan to his beloved Winnipeg Blue Bombers, New York Yankees, and Green Bay Packers. Forever switching up the jerseys for Sunday matchups.

The past 6 months were very taxing as he lost his brother, Lloyd (Elaine) and sister Gayle (Wayne).

Gary was a man who exemplified the true meaning of a husband, father, and grandfather. He was always the first to lend an ear, a laugh, or an explanation on how to do it his way. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family memorial.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian www.wildlifefederation.ca  info@cwf-tct.org

    1. Hey Brenda,
Your dad was such an amazing person. The memories I have of him bring a smile to my face. When he found things funny his laughter was something to see. I wish I would have seen him more over the years. Thinking of all of you right now.
