Eva Kilopoulos

Eva Kilopoulos rotated
June 20, 1939 – December 9, 2023

With sadness, we are announcing the passing of Eva Kilopoulos. She began showing signs of dementia several years ago and her health declined quickly after experiencing several seizures in July of 2023 while in the hospital.

Eva was predeceased by her husband, Antonio, on March 26, 2017.
She is remembered by Pigi Papadopoulos (sister-in-law), Kyriacos and Rosanne Papadopoulos (nephew) and their children, Jaz, Keegan and Karsten and Socrates and Anne Papadopoulos (nephew), and many relatives in Greece and extended family in Australia.

Eva was born in Patra, Greece and moved to Thompson in the early 70’s. She was part of the Thompson Greek community and made many close and personal friendships. Eventually, Eva and Tony moved to Winnipeg and opened up Porteous Pizza on Portage Avenue. She also worked at the Winnipeg Canoe Club.

Eva had an engaging, lovely personality, and enjoyed people and children. Her and Tony travelled to Australia on several occasions to visit his family and Eva also travelled to Greece to visit with her family. She loved animals and had several cats and birds. Eva took pride in her plants and was often found caring for them and dusting the leaves. She enjoyed cooking, making great pizza and meat pies! Eva appreciated beautiful things and took joy in simple pleasures.

Thank you to friends who visited Eva during the last several months and staff at the Charleswood Long Term Care home.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave, Winnipeg, MB. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens.

Eva had a beautiful spirit. Her bubbly, adventurous and people-loving nature made her a compelling character. She was cherished by her large extended family in Melbourne where she and Antonio spent joyous holidays. We miss you “theia” and we will never forget your laughter. It could light up a city block!
