Emil Andrew Sokoliuk
1956 – 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Emil Andrew Sokoliuk, who passed on August 22, 2022 at the Grace Hospital at 65 years old.

Emil will be lovingly missed by his wife of 28 years Jackie; son Cody; daughter Emily; and step-sons Paul (Miguela), Tom, and Adam; and granddaughters Claire and Cassie. Also left to cherish his memory are brothers Ben, George (Carol), Lawrence (Cathy); sister-in-law Audrey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Emil was predeceased by his parents Anne and John Sokoliuk; brothers Paul and Orest; and sisters-in-law Clover and Mary.

Emil was born August 29, 1956 and grew up on the family farm in Sundown, Manitoba. He worked several jobs in Sundown before making his way to the city and starting a lifelong career in construction. He worked many years at Borland Construction in Stonewall and spent the last 10 years of his career at Asphaltec in the city before retiring in 2019.

Emil met his wife Jackie 30 in 1992 and went on to have a large blended family of 4 sons and 1 daughter.

Emil loved all sports, especially hockey and football. He enjoyed discussing and analyzing the Winnipeg Jets and the Blue Bombers with family and friends.

As a younger man, he loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and hunting, but as he got older he was happiest being at home and having backyard barbecue parties with family and friends.

Emil will be deeply missed and remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, and his gentle, kind way.
