Eleanor Jean Phillips nee Osipo

December 6, 1941 – August 28, 2023 

Eleanor Jean Phillips (nee Osipo), 81, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on August 28, 2023 at St. Boniface hospital. She was born on December 6, 1941, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Nellie Osipo (nee Galka) and Joseph Osipo.

Eleanor is survived by her sister, Joyce, her daughter Kristine (Chad), her sons Vincent, Danny (Liz), and John (Barbra), and her grandchildren Vanessa, Kara, Collin, Nicholas, and Natasha. She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Jessica Platt.

Eleanor finished her high school education at the Winnipeg Adult Education Centre. She then pursued a career as a WRHA homecare attendant where she made a positive impact on the lives of those she served, and provided comfort and support to.

In her free time, Eleanor enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She was a regular attendee of the monthly breakfast club at Boogies Diner, where she enjoyed good food and lively conversations with friends. Eleanor had a passion for music and dancing, and she loved to write and play scrabble. She also cherished visiting her friends and spending quality time with loved ones.

A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held on Sunday, September 24th, from 1pm – 4pm, at Boogies Diner, located at 1155 Main Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This gathering will serve as an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share memories, and honor Eleanor’s life and legacy.

Eleanor will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

  1. Eleanor was my neighbor for years and I could always rely on her to watch my house and pets whenever I was away on vacation. Whenever she wanted a break from her yard work, she would ask “is it happy hour yet” and we’d spend the afternoon with friends on my deck. I’ll miss those times.
