After a lengthy battle with chronic illness, it is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful matriarch, Efthimia Veroukis.
Efthimia was a loving, loyal wife and an absolute devoted mother. She was born on the Emerald Island of the Aegean, Thassos.
She grew up under austere measures of the war. After losing her mother at an early age, she worked hard under her relative’s care. This became her trademark, a tireless worker, and a perfectionist. In her teens, she met her soulmate, Emmanuel, and their whirlwind love began.
Together they broke the rules; they eloped and cherished each year of 67 years together.
Soon after their marriage, their children were born; two sons, Michael and Taso. Who were extremely blessed to have a mother who loved and nurtured them unconditionally.
She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband Emmanuel; two loving sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Dawn and Taso & Tammy; three wonderful grandchildren, Andrea (Ben), Mia and Manoli; and two adorable great-grandchildren, Eli and Ezra. She is also survived by her sister Vasiliki (Tony) of Kavala, Greece.
Efthimia was like Heaven on Earth, always loving, supportive, forgiving, providing and with her beautiful smile. She was always making life bright. She will be greatly missed every moment from here on in, but at least we had a blessed time with her here. This is not goodbye… as we will all see you in Heaven.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Rev. Fr. Nikolaos Tambakis presiding. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens.

I heard about the death of our aunt last week and would like to express my deepest condolences.
My mother Nitza always had a close and loving relationship with Efthimia until her death, despite the great distance.
We wish you much strength for the coming time with loving and beautiful memories.
Please accept our warmest greetings from Cologne/Germany.
