Edward Benjamin Streilein

Edward Benjamin Streilein
July 12, 1937 – May 25, 2023

With sadness, but gratitude for a life well lived, Edward passed peacefully with his loving family by his side.

A cherished husband, father, and opa, Edward was a true gentleman, with a twinkle in his eye and warm smile. He had a beautiful marriage of 63 years with the love of his life, building a family he adored and was proud of. His family was his greatest source of happiness.

Edward was a role model in the way he lived his life. He was a man of chosen words; consistently polite, gentle and kind. His wanderlust, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for music and literature stemmed from his curiosity and amusement with the world’s offerings. He enjoyed winters in Palm Springs, cruises, and European adventures. From golf and Latin dancing to wine making and preparing crepes for his grandchildren, Edward was happy with his life and lived that gratitude daily.

Edward was patient and had a strong work ethic – everything he did, he did well. He worked as Chief Electrical Supervisor for the Province of Manitoba and was president of the Manitoba Electrical Association. Upon retirement, he established Palm Springs Vacations.

Left to cherish his memory are Edward’s wife Johanna; daughters Corrina Gutnik (Martin) and Kimberley Massaroni (Daniel); grandchildren Stephanie, Meghan, Christian, and Nathalie; sister Erna Schultz; brother-in-law Louis vanLoon (Carla); sisters-in-law Linda Streilein, Connie Hebert (Paul), and Astrid MacLeod (Joe); and many nephews, nieces, and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings Susan, Jack, George, Peter, Henry, Mary, Don, and Sam.

We extend our gratitude to the exceptional staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre for the compassionate care our dad received.

At Edward’s request, there will be no formal service. His family has gathered privately to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Deer Lodge Centre Foundation or Parkinson Canada.

You will be forever in our hearts. In your words, “Love you dearly.”

Deepest Condolences to the Streilein family and extended family on the passing of Edward. I was a teenage babysitter for Corrina and Kimberly and do distinctly remember the magnificent presence of Mr and Mrs Streilein back in the 1970s and their two lovely daughters.

We dealt with Ed in the 2000’s with some Palm Springs rentals. Couldn’t have found a more helpful, caring and wonderful person. Rest in piece Ed !!
