Dorothy Ann Quail

Dorothy passed away on November 28, 2022, at the Holy Family Home.

She is survived by her husband John (Jack); daughter Lori Huchko (Bruce); sons David (Sheryl) and Brian (Tracy); and granddaughter Carlyn Huchko. She was predeceased by her son Bruce and sister Grace.

Dorothy was a great mother who always ensured that her children were well taken care of and loved. She provided a great home for them and was always there to ensure all their needs and met. She was very close to her granddaughter Carlyn and they spent many hours together baking in our kitchen. No matter what she was doing when Carlyn came over and said the magic words, “let’s bake Nana” she would stop what she was doing and the baking began.

Dorothy and Jack always believed that travel would give the children a broader perspective of life, cultures, and living situations. They brought a camper trailer and traveled throughout Canada and the United States. When the children grew up Dorothy and Jack continued world travel with their best friends Tom and Margaret Austin.
Dorothy was active in the formation of the Girl Guides in Transcona and continued with them for many years. She was also a member of the Transcona Kinsmen Kinette Club and was presented with the Kinette of the Year Award for her efforts with the club.

A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff of the St. Boniface Hospital and Holy Family Home for their care and understanding.

In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
