Deborah Helander nee DeGagne

1954 – 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Deborah Helander (nee DeGagne). She passed peacefully on the morning of the 21st of January.

Deborah is predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Constance DeGagne. Left behind to remember her, her loving husband of 50 years Keith; children Christopher (Jennifer), Andrew (Diana), and Stephanie; her siblings Denise (Doug) Gow, Lynne (Bill) Kowalchuck, and Bill DeGagne; her grandchildren Drew, Aly, Sam, and Nick; as well as many nieces and nephews. Deb will be missed by her grand-puppies Riley and Bailey.

Deborah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was the person you called when you needed someone to talk to always having the time to listen. She will be remembered for her warm smile and big hugs.

The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital, you all were kind and caring to Deborah during her final weeks.

“I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done”

Funeral services will be held at a later date

  1. When I was young,I said I looked more like my auntie Debbie because we both had dark hair. She always had a smile for me and kind words. She left us too soon.

I’ll miss you Deb and all that you meant to Roger and me: you and I working together at Manulife on Broadway back in the 80s, you reciting a lovely tribute to me at our wedding “Jack & Jill” shower, you standing up for Roger and I when we married (I borrowed a blue dress from you that covered something borrowed and something blue), us getting together several times with out 5 kids (Steph and my twins same age), and beautiful loving Ceas”or” your beloved yellow lab, and so much more. 🥰
God be with you now and always Deb. You’re pain-free now., and at peace. ❤️ We’ll never forget you. Your wonderful memories will be with us always .
    Love you, 😘🙋🏻‍♀️

To a truly special and loving person and dear friend. I’ll miss you Deb and all the wonderful memories of you….meeting you and working with you as secretaries for Manulife back in the 80s,; you reciting that touching tribute to me at my “Jack & Jill” wedding shower; you standing up for me as my Matron of Honour, lending me a blue dress that covered something borrowed and something blue; us getting together so many times with our hubbies and 5 kids. God be with you now and always Deb. You’re pain free now and at peace. I’ll never forget you my dear longtime friend. 🙋🏻‍♀️🥰😘🥲🥹
