David Dave Thomas Freemantle

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David (Dave) on April 8, 2024, at the age of 80. He is survived by his children Peter and William.

David was born in London, Ontario but found home in Winnipeg, MB. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 16. Later he began his professional career at the Hudson’s Bay Company in Downtown Winnipeg. His interests were home renovations and fishing. He spent several years as a volunteer with Scouts Canada. He was also an active member and past director for the Winnipeg Amateur Radio Club.

David was an adventurous soul who lived a full and rich life. He brightened the lives of those around him with his strength of character and love. David effortlessly made friends with everyone he met.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.

  1. I miss you more then words can say David. You where my best friend and the most wonderful, caring and understanding person I’ve and I’ll ever meet. Life will not be the same without you. Thank you for the 20 plus years of a wonderful friendship. Love you

Dave was a wonderful soul. He was a great guy and helped so many people in our west end neighborhood. He helped me renovate my house and taught me plumbing and electrical skills- he was the ultimate handyman. As a friend he was always there for emotional support and advice and it was always great advice. At the vacuum shop he ran on Sargent his skills and charisma attracted customers like bees to honey. Everyone wanted to come in and have a chat with Dave. He could fix anything, any vacuum and when they became computerized he learned to fix those too. I’ll think about the advice you gave me for the rest of my life. Especially when someone’s bothering you, “Mind Over Matter- I don’t mind and you don’t matter!” and “Hang in there guy!” he was always sincere. I’ll miss ya bud but you will never be forgotten. There’s no doubt in my mind you’re in a better place now.
