Cyril Hanus

Cyril Hanus
September 8, 1949 – September 8, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cyril Hanus on September 8, 2023.

Born in Southey, Saskatchewan to Leon and Elizabeth Hanus on September 8, 1949, Cyril moved to Winnipeg in 1971 to pursue a profession in auto mechanics, which would prove to be a solid career for the next 45 years.

Always the quiet observer and known as the guy who could fix anything, Cyril was the first to lend a hand to whoever needed it, and he did it all with a smile on his face. He took great pride in his family and never shied from offering his sage advice when asked.

He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. He was loved by many, and his loss will be felt by us all.

Cyril is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, of 49 years; their two daughters Leanne (Tim) and Kelly (Dave); grandchildren Matthew, Chase and Haylee; step-grandchildren Michelle, Shaun and Tjay; sisters Cecilia and Margaret (Melvin); and brother Rudy (Leslie) of Saskatchewan and brother Michael (Sharon) of Alberta.

In observance of Cyril’s wishes, no funeral will be held.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
