It is with great sadness that Marc’s family and friends announce his sudden passing on March 21, 2024 at Grace Hospital at the age of 65. Marc passed peacefully with his daughter and son by his side.

Marc began his career with the RCMP in 1981 as a Special Constable and worked at the Winnipeg International Airport.
In 1988 Marc decided to convert to becoming a regular member. He completed his training at the RCMP Depot in Regina. (Regiment # 40351)
His first posting as a regular member took him to the Ste. Rose du Lac Detachment in Manitoba in the year of 1989.
From there in 1996, Marc was posted to the Dauphin Municipal Detachment also in the province of Manitoba .
His last posting in 2006 was the Ethelbert Satellite Office also in Manitoba .

Marc was affectionately nicknamed and known to his colleagues as “Smurf”.

Marc enjoyed the outdoors and trips with his family to the Lake of the Woods area in Ontario.
He and his wife spent many memorable hours working in their garden. Landscaping was another pastime and Marc took great pride in the appearance of his yard.

Marc was quite the chef on the BBQ and cooked many delicacies. Sports were also an area of interest, hockey in particular. Marc was the proud “Papa” as he watched his daughter Michelle play Ringette, his daughter Chantel Figure Skate and coached his son Mat’s hockey team. He loved music and taught himself how to play the guitar. Marc was a big “ Johnny Cash” fan and was often heard singing his favourite tunes.

Marc devoted his life to serving the public.
A task that was not always easy and that had personal implications on his life and his family.

    Michelle, Chantal and Mathieu,
We remember Marc as passionate, jovial and kind brother/person. I often missed his calls out of the blue and especially on my birthday. We are trusting he is resting in peace and moved on to the next chapter of his destiny and in good company with predeceased family and friends.

  6. Marc holds a very special place in our hearts. As his “little sister”, he was often protective of me, always wanting to be sure that I was happy and “ok”. Marc often came visit us at our home, in Libau. Those impromptu visits are very cherished not only by me, but also by my husband David and our kids. We send our sincere condolences to Marc’s children and grandchildren. Rest in Peace Marc.

You taught me how to stand strong and be the reason for someone smiling.

  8. God bless Marc. I trained and was in the same troop with him in 1981. Me being a Cape Bretoner an extrovert . Marc and I hit it off right away. He had a natural way about him. He never bragged about his previous accomplishments . He showed it. In our troop of 32 members, there were a lot of egos. Marc was not one of them. During a pool class they sent me up first on the high board to dive. I could hardly swim and never dove in my life. It wasn’t pretty, everyone laughed. The Cpl shouted to me , what was that, a lobster dive? More laughter ! When we went on the coopers test run, mile and half I came in first . Marc came over to me. And said. , that was incredible, I said No it wasn’t , your dive was Olympic quality. Now in 1988, I went back to Depot, I couldn’t believe my eyes, Marc again were troop mates . What a joy aka Joyal. Sorry I am a Cape Bretoner. I have to work the crowd. My sincere condolences go out to Marc’s family . To me he was the best friend I had in the MOUNTIE.S . Cyril Cameron. Fall River N.S. God rest his sole

  9. Dear Michelle (Peter, Max, Eddie), Chantel (Harley),
    and Matt,
Today is three months since the passing of your Dad, grandfather’s passing!
Alan, James , Scott and I had a very special relationship with him!
He came to visit us often and frequently brought a bucket of KFC ! He and Uncle Alan plunked away on the piano! Chopin they weren’t ! But it provided some good humour!
Marc was very consistent in calling his siblings on their birthdays!
These memories of time spent together remain precious to us!
    Love,
    Auntie Ev, James and Scott

I just learned of Mark’s passing earlier today. Smurf was my trainer when I came out of RCMP Depot in 1996 and was posted to Saint Rose detachment. He was an excellent trainer and became a very good friend. We worked together a lot, but we socialized together, and spent a number of evenings having fun with himself and Sherry and other friends in Saint Rose great guy well respected in the community. I’ve been meaning to track him down to get together with him over the last couple years and of course find out his untimely passing before I had that chance , very sad and somewhat upsetting also remembering great memories with him and our time together in Saint Rose RIP buddy. See you on the other side. Condolences to all his family especially his kids who I met many times.
