Conrad Marcel Rear

Conrad Rear

March 7, 1950 – October 1, 2022

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with liver disease, Conrad Marcel Rear passed on October 1, 2022, at the age of 72, with his family by his side. Conrad was born on March 7, 1950.

Conrad was predeceased by his parents, Helmer and Evangéline (nee Robidoux), sisters Rena, Gloria and brother Eugene. Survived by his loving wife Lynda of 41 years; sons Scott and Jamie (Steph); and brother Alvin (Lorraine). He will be lovingly missed by his nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many cousins, extended family, and many close friends whom he thought of as family.

Conrad was born and raised in Starbuck, Manitoba, and although he lived most of his life in the city, his heart always belonged in Starbuck. Conrad was a Police Officer for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 22 years. Conrad worked many jobs throughout his 72 years of life. He was well known for his handy work; he took great pride in building houses for friends and family. He was handy with all trades including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. He was well known for his work at Minute Muffler on Pembina Highway and at Slices Pizza on Stafford Street. But to Conrad, his favorite job, pride and joy, and the beat in his heart, was being a dad to Scott and Jamie and a devoted husband to Lynda.

Conrad was always making new friends, loved going for breakfast at Nicks Inn and loved a good card game.

His family would like to thank the Palliative Care team and the PD staff at the St. Boniface Hospital.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of Flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Liver Foundation.

  1. Dear Lynda and family… Your cousin Gord Kusmack and his wife Brucie wish to express our sadness upon learning of Conrad’s passing. We extend our deepest sympathy. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as we have not been in regular contact over the years. Gord has many Starbuck memories with Conrad; the first being when they, along with Gord’s brother Bob (recently deceased), went to the tractor sales outlet and just for good fun, watched Gord drive one of the tractors up the side/wall of the building, Imagine that. And he also remembers those leeches at the Starbuck dam… Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time. Take good care. -Sincerely, Gord and Brucie xo
