With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of dad on November 19, 2022, at the age of 79.
He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anne Castelein; wife Freda; brothers Arthur and Joseph; and sister Marie. He is survived by his sister Yvonne; brother Alfonse; daughters Dawn (Tobie), Beverley, Deanna (Jay), Alice (Brian), Glenda (James), and Josie (Kelly); step-children Luke and Michael; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was born and raised in the Norris Lake area. As a young man, he ventured to B.C. for a short time to work on a Dairy Farm. Upon returning, he held a position with the City of Winnipeg Sewers Department and spent some time in the Thompson Nickel Mines. Once he started a family, we moved to the Inwood area where he had farmed for many years. He even took to driving the school bus for a time. He retired from the farm in the mid-80s and moved to Winnipeg. He enjoyed seeing us all together on our annual family camping weekend at Norris Lake.
Cremation has taken place. Service will be held on November 29, 2022, at 1:00 P.M., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave.
He will be very missed by all; father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Rest well Dad.
