Charles Daniel Thomas, 75 of Sakeeng First Nations died on March 9th, 2024.
“Chucky” Thomas, son of Antoniette and August (Abel) Thomas was born in Pine Falls, Manitoba. He passed away at Riverview Health Centre surrounded by family in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after battling stage four cancer for three years after his diagnosis in 2021.
Charles was predeceased by his mother Antoniette, his father August and his daughter Danielle Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife Debra Thomas; his children, Denise, Dereck, Tammy, Carl, Justin, Dominick, Dominique and Matthew; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly and who all reside in Manitoba; along with his brother Clifford and sisters Ester, Gail and Theresa.
Young Charles worked as a taxi driver for numerous years before working with Canada Post for 25 years until his retirement in 2016. He also travelled to places like Vancouver and Ottawa as a Union representative during his time at Canada Post. Charles enjoyed trying new restaurants, going to the Assiniboine Downs to bet on the ponies and going to bingo with his wife.
He loved rock and roll and music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Charles liked going fishing, camping, road trips and taking his children to Birds Hill Beach when they were young. He was always helping his children in times of need. Charles was a quiet, caring and hard-working man who loved his family. He will be missed dearly by all who had the honour to know him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy. Reception to follow at Family Life Centre, 240 Pritchard Avenue in Winnipeg, Mb.
