Beverley Ann Lundgren

October 21, 1941 – September 30, 2023

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Beverley Ann Lundgren on September 30, 2023 at the age of 81 years old.

Bev was loved and will be remembered by her daughter, Cheryl (Walter) McKuski, and her son, Kenneth Smith. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Kristen (Scott) Roseen, Aimee (Stanford) Dueck, Jesse (Meagan) McKuski, Jacquelin (Scott) Coleman, Hannah Smith, and Emily Smith. Bev was blessed with 10 great grandchildren, Grace, Austin, Hailey, Desiree, Colten, Aiden, Bentley, Christian, Jaxx, and Charlee.

She is survived by her brother, Don (Holly) Lundgren, and sister, Sandra (Gene) Robson; her nieces, Shannon, Dana, and Malissa, and her nephews, Cameron, Mark, and Jaymes. Bev was predeceased by her grandparents, her parents Russell and Berta Lundgren, her sister Susan, and her daughter Linda.

Beverley Ann was born at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg on October 21, 1941. She lived the majority of her life in the Elmwood/Kildonan area of Winnipeg, and spent the last year of her life living at NCU Manor in Niverville. As a teenager, Bev attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate until she left to work at the administrative office of Eatons downtown. Bev was married and had three children. Bev later worked at the Winnipeg Tax Center for many years until her retirement. Overlapping with that job, Bev worked with the Family Center of Winnipeg, which was her true calling. She provided loving hands-on, in-home support to families with twins and triplets, going to the home to rock and feed the newborn babies. She loved this job! It was here she met Tara, and her twins Kaitlyn and Emily, with whom she formed a close bond. They have stayed in touch with ‘Auntie Bev’ all these years. Bev’s caring nature also led her to provide support for her sister Susan, and her family, while Susan battled cancer. Bev also provided care to her close friend, June, throughout her cancer battle.

In her lifetime, Bev was able to visit her beloved Hawaii, and her parents homeland of Sweden. These trips were highlights for her and she spoke of them often, and she always wished to go back someday. She travelled to British Columbia many times to visit her sisters, Sandra and Susan, and their families; she travelled to Florida for a Disney Adventure, the Dominican Republic, and many places in between. She recalled fond memories of going to her Aunt Carrie’s farm in Eriksdale, and to her grandparent’s farm in Stonewall.

Bev enjoyed being involved with seniors groups and card groups. She was involved with the Good Neighbours Active Living Center and the Bronx Community Center for years. She played Bridge a few times a week, for as long as she was able to. She had many friendships there and was always willing to pick up friends who needed a ride to play. She was interested in Health and Cooking Classes, and often signed herself up for them through various resources. She enjoyed reading romance books, watching Hallmark movies, gospel and country music, Elvis, videotaping ‘her shows’, and keeping lists of what was on her mind. Her favourite place to relax was outside on her swing, or in her recliner with a cup of instant coffee and some peanut butter on Ryvita crackers. Bev was very talented in crocheting, and whipped up afghans and dishcloths for everyone in the family. She also loved porcelain dolls, and even learned how to make them. They were very special to her.

She also tried her hand at dancing, baking, playing the steel guitar, scrapbooking, and so much more.

Bev faced many obstacles and tough situations throughout her life, including her declining health in the last few years of her life. She fought hard to keep herself going. Bev was strong, determined, a hard worker, had perseverance and a can-do attitude. That legacy has been passed down to her family, a life force we all strive for. Bev loved taking care of others, often putting their needs before her own. She cooked big holiday meals, put out the good dishes, baked goodies (pumpkin pie!), never forgot a birthday, and really poured her time and love into her family. She adored babies and children, and loved all her children, grandchild, and ‘great grands’ so much. She fought long enough to meet and hold her newest great granddaughter, Charlee. She will be missed by her family and all that knew her. She was everyone’s Grandma Bev and leaves many to remember and celebrate her life.

Funeral to be held on Tuesday October 10, 2023 at 11 am at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Burial to follow after at the Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Villa Rosa Inc.
