July 23, 1940 – April 7, 2022
After a lengthy battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ben Voth, age 81, on April 7 at the Victoria Hospital.
Ben grew up in the Winkler area and came to Winnipeg in 1958. Ben worked in the Stores Dept. at CN, retiring in 1995. Ben enjoyed his retirement with all kinds of projects. He especially loved camping and activities at the Elmwood EK Living Centre with Linda.
Ben is survived by his loving wife Linda; daughter Corrina (Dan); grandchildren Caitlyn (Steven), Braeden and Alyssa; step-daughter Tracey; step-son Craig; step-grandson Kyle; sister Gloria; sister-in-law Alice; brothers-in-law Ron (Penny) and Bob (Mervi) along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special companion Pippie Longstocking.
A special thank you to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Health Science Centre and Victoria Hospital 5th floor doctors, nurses and staff for the care and compassion they gave to Ben.
Cremation has taken place. A Faspa luncheon will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., in the reception room of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased if you would make a donation in Ben’s name to CancerCare Manitoba or Winnipeg Humane Society.
In tears we saw you sinking
We watched you fade away
You suffered much in silence
You fought so hard to stay.
You faced your task with courage
Your Spirit did not bend.
But still you kept on fighting
Until the very end.
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you,
And whispered, “Come With Me.
So when we saw you sleeping
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So He took you home to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
For He only takes the best.
But if tears could build a stairway
And our memories a lane
I would walk all the way to heaven
Just to see you once again.
