One of six siblings, Mom was born September 25, 1933 in Edmonton, Alberta. At the time, they lived on a homestead just outside of Caslan, AB. They later moved to Oak Lake, MB where mom graduated from Oak Lake School. Mom and Dad were married in 1953 in Winnipeg and relocated to Calgary and started both a family and a family business. They moved back to Winnipeg in 1960, and separated in 1969. Mom worked in a number of positions over the years, including those at National Trust, Kensington Homes, Walsh McKay & Manitoba Theater Centre. In her retirement she volunteered at the Good Neighbours bookstore. Her passions were reading and art, in particular watercolour painting and charcoal sketching. She also completed Muskeg Tales, a journal of her and her siblings’ adventures growing up on the homestead.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
A private family gathering will be held in her honour.

Although I haven’t seen Delma for some time I have many fond memories of her. I moved to Oak Lake as a teen and I was warmly welcomed by Delma and her family who offered much kindness and support. Delma and I attended many dances in nearby towns and enjoyed just “hanging out” in town and this continued for some time after we both moved to Winnipeg. I offer my condolences to all members of her family. Delma was a beautiful lady and a very special friend.
So sorry for your loss Rick. Thank you Lynn for sending me Del’s obit. 1955 was a long time ago and the last time I had contact with her. Isn’t it sad how families drift apart. Take care folks and do, let’s keep in touch.
I met Del in 1972 at Walsh Micay when I began my first job there as a legal assistant. She was an amazing person.
