William 22Bill22 James Wiebe

It is with sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Bill Wiebe. Bill passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 12, 2022. God took him peacefully as he slept, way too soon. He was 64 years old.

Bill is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Julie. He is also survived by four brothers, Jack and wife Marcedith, Gerald and wife Louise, Andrew and wife Lorainne, Rodney and wife Colleen; father-in-law, Michael Szekely; sister-in-law Evelyn Szekely; and sister-in-law Maryanne and husband Rick Seed; along with nieces and nephews, friends, neighbours, and co-workers. Special mention of nephew Alain Andre, who loved Bill as his own father and who Bill loved as a son. All Alain’s life, Bill loved to go tobogganing, skating, fishing, and golfing with him. Many trips were made to Memphis and Arizona to watch endless amounts of baseball as Alain pitched for the U of W team. Alain also learned all his auto mechanical skills from Bill. The beach was another favourite spot for them to hang out at. For approximately 20 years, Bill and Julie enjoyed a seasonal cabin in the Whiteshell – which was a huge highlight.

Bill was born on December 24, 1957, in Steinbach Manitoba. All his life, he loved the people around him most of all and everyone loved Bill.
He loved to talk with anyone and everyone and had no shortage of stories or information to share. He could carry on a conversation about cars, or food, or driving trucks, travels or relatives or the sky or whatever interested you. Bill had an endless amount of knowledge of all subjects. Some stories were hair raising, some were motivating, lots were funny and full of laughs. Bill always had a positive spin on life and had the best sense of humor. He had a fantastic gift of being able to correct others or bite his tongue.. on occasion. Brother Bill or Willie or big Bill or Uncle Bill or cowboy was loved by everyone.

Bill worked at numerous jobs but was most happy to finally be able to retire from T & T Trucking in April 2020 and find rest. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends or family or neighbours with whatever was going on in their life. His truck traveled many miles to help others. He built fences, sawed down trees, helped with yard work and gardens. He loved to fix snowblowers, cars, lawnmowers, or whatever needed looking at. He was always eager to help and while he worked, he was always talking and laughing and the time spent was appreciated by everyone. Of course, these times always included food and coffee. No one else could make barbecuing a wiener into an afternoon event. After all, what’s the point of a fire, if not to make another hotdog. Such precision and such art with exact slices at exact intervals….bun grilled and precise condiments added. Bill mastered bun making and pie creating. Yum to his banana cream pie. Greaveh was also an art. Those Saturday morning breakfasts with the brothers will be greatly missed.

We know that heaven is a richer place. Bill came in with his guitar and his voice. Meeting him there were his mom and dad, John and Lillian Wiebe, brothers Johnny and George and sister LilyAnne. God will now take care of Bill. Bill touched the lives of many and will be so dearly missed.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will follow later spring or summer.

  6. Our deepest condolences Julie. Bill was Salt of the Earth! We had a world of respect for him; his optimism, his outlook on life and his happy disposition. Never a kinder man have we known. Although our time together was long ago in the past, we are so thankful to have had the honor to be his friend. RIP Bill.

  7. Learning that Bill passed very much saddened me. I met Bill at Varennes School in Winnipeg, when I moved there in 1972. There was many an afterschool I enjoyed going to visit Bill and his family who lived half a block from school. Along with our mutual friend, Wayne we rather terrorized a few people in our Grade9 class, but always in a friendly way. I lost track of Bill after Grade9, as we didn’t go to the same high school. Ran into Bill about 10 years ago, and had the pleasure of meeting Julie. My sincerest condolences in your loss Julie.

  8. Bill was my big brother. I have aweseome memories of Bill. I remember he could play guitar by ear. I remember he did start working on things like lawn mowers and when he first started mom..lillian wiebe, would say, I wonder when bill is going to put that lawn mower back together. lol Bill’s skills improved, Yeah Bill would load us into his Mustang and with beach boys on the 8 track take us to the beach…St Malo, Grand Beach. In the winter he would take us sledding or ski doo rides. It hurt my heart to see i wasnt mentioned as one of Bills little brothers. Bill gave me memories of sunshine, beaches and cruisin down the highway listening to BTO and the Beach Boys…and many more memories.
