Venusto (Victor) Dorbolo

Venusto Victor Dorbolo

November 9, 1928 – June 2, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Venusto (Victor) Dorbolo on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the young age of 95

Victor was born Nov 9, 1928 in Pulfero, Italy.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Eddi; son, Rob(Marlies), daughter Carla(Alan); his brothers, Graziano(Pia); Mario(In Italy); Grandchildren: Cameron, Devin, Michael and Jesse; His Niece from Winnipeg, Sandra (Denis)children Rachel (Matt), Nick (Ariane) and Nephew from Portland Oregon Rick(Haleh); As well as many Nieces and Nephews in Italy

He was predeceased by his father Giuseppe and mother Caterina; Also predeceased siblings, Brothers, Virgilio, Natale, and Lino; Sisters, Pia and Emilia; Daughter-in-Law Marlies(Rob)

Victor’s Canadian life adventures began in 1957, with brothers Mario and Graziano, who came to Canada to seek out better life opportunities and the possibility to settle and live.

Victor’s work life was distinguished with dedication, hard-work, commitment and excellence. He and his brothers started working at a very young age to help their family in Italy. His whole entire life centered around striving to provide for his family through hard work. He worked as an Hospital orderly, carpenter, appliance repair man, and at the age 60 went back to carpentry to work as a form framer at a new Hydro Dam project in Limestone.

He was always found tinkering about in the yard, on machines, or making something with his gazillion tools.
Victor was unbelievably resourceful and creative, possessing the ability to fix almost anything. If not in a conventional way, he would think of another creative solution. He was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to come to lend a hand or offer to help fix whatever you needed.

His loves were; enjoying making wine from scratch (using grapes), or to be outside tending to the garden, growing his own grape vines and watching the birds. He had set up a few birdhouses in the backyard to make them feel welcome. Sometimes he would even redesign the birdhouses to deter the mangy squirrels from causing havoc in hopes his birds would feel safe to come and make a home.

When he was younger he loved to go fishing and hunting. One time he went goose hunting with his friend, Wayne and daughter, Kim. After hunting for a few hours, Wayne and Kim decided to take a break and check in on Victor. As they approached they saw him enjoying a bottle of wine, some cheeses, meats and bread. He had it all set up, ready to snack, while he was waiting for his next shot.

Ol’ Vic leaves us with his favorite parting message:
“I love you more and more”

May you rest in peace Victor, dad and grandpa. May your spot in heaven be filled with everything that makes you happy and feel loved. May you watch down upon us and keep us all protected.
We all love you. Till we meet again.

Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
oh, so happy and so bright!
There is a perfect joy and
beauty in the everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
safely home in heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for you,
so you must not idly stand,
do it now, while life remaineth–
you shall rest in God’s own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
oh, the rapture of that meeting
oh, the joy to see you come!
