August 31, 1951. – November 5th, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Hugh Didcote, our beloved bother, uncle, and friend at the age of 69.

He is predeceased by his parents, Stephen Gyde Didcote and Marion Constance Martin, and will be remember by his brothers and sisters:

Sally (Richard); Tom, Debi (Paul); Martin (Lise) and many nieces and nephews, as well as close friends.

Being a product of the early 50’s, Steve grew up experiencing the era of Hippie culture that stayed in his soul.  He was a free spirit who lived his life the way he wanted. Having the opportunity to live in Malaysia in the mid-60s, he took great interest in teachings of Eastern religions.  In the early days, photography was one of his greatest hobbies.  Steve was also a walking music encyclopedia. He was a true Rock and Roller who was passionate about the Arts.

Steve was a published author, and also enjoyed writing songs and poetry.  Being very well read and opinionated, he was willing to debate any subject at any time until you accepted his point of view.

We will miss his quick witty sense of humor, infectious smile and hearty laugh.

Our family would like to thank the healthcare heroes at the Grace, Concordia and Misericordia Hospitals for their care and compassion.  A special thank you to his niece Jayne and her husband Shane for bringing comfort and companionship to Steve during the last months of his life……particularly in the form of smuggled in Chocolate chip cookies and Smoothies.

He leaves us with the following words of wisdom, “Don’t be a white sheep.”

Keep on Rockin’ in the free world Steve. Until we meet again.
