January 11, 1953 – February 4, 2022
It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Larry Babisky on February 4, 2022, aged 69 years at Concordia Hospital.
Larry was predeceased by his mother Betty Behman; stepfather Mike Behman; father Peter; brothers Terry, Wesley, and “Buddy”; sister Carol Pilbeam; and Nephew Glen. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, whom he was especially close to, Gail Babisky, Donna Shuster and Barbara Pinnell; sister-in-law Brenda Babisky; his good friend Brian; and many nieces, nephews and friends. “Uncle Luck” had many nieces and nephews that were near and dear to him, sharing in many fond memories.
Larry was a hard-working, diligent individual who was employed by the City of Winnipeg Streets Department as a construction worker until his retirement. Larry was the “baby” of the family with seven brothers and sisters, so needless to say he got a lot of attention and affection from his family while growing up. Friends and family knew Larry as a soft-spoken person with a generous giving spirit. His kind and gentle manner made Larry very popular with children as well. Affectionately known as “Uncle Luck”, Larry always made time for people he cared about.
Larry was an avid collector who enjoyed nothing more than chasing after the next “hot” item. He had a passion for “hot” cars, die-cast collectible cars and could “school” most people on a pool table. He had more than a few classic cars in his day including a 1977 Corvette. Another pastime for Larry was meeting his coffee buddies at Tim Hortons.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy.
We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain to walk and guide us through our lives until we meet again…
