Sheila Isabelle Bradley nee Hutton

Sheila Isabelle Bradley nee Hutton
1934 – 2021

Sheila passed away peacefully on May 30, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 86 years old.

She was born in Winnipeg, raised in the North End and attended Luxton School and St. John’s Collegiate. Sheila excelled academically and at sports, especially volleyball. She really enjoyed summers spent with her Yerex cousins out at her grandparents’ farm in Franklin (near Neepawa). After graduating, she went on to work at CP Rail, at the Manitoba Legislature as a stenographer, at RCMP D Division and retired from the RCMP Crime Lab.

Her children were the brightest spots in her life. She is survived by Shawna Rudd (Jim), Janice Bartecki (Victor) and their 2 daughters, Brittney (Ray) and Caitlyn, and Jamie Bradley (Brenda) and their daughter, Taylor, and son, Carter. She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Bill Hutton and David Hutton, their families, and many other friends and relatives.

Special hugs to Doreen Amos (lifelong friend), Sylvia Warrington (neighbor of 60 years) and her children, niece Elaine Hutton and cousins Carol Carson and Brenda Barbour.

Sheila loved being a grandma and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, watching them grow into strong, educated, happy young adults. She was so proud of all of them.

She enjoyed reading the newspaper, doing crosswords, going to the casino with Shawna, bridge, bowling, British shows, game shows, the odd rum and coke or Caesar, crib games with Sylvia and reminiscing with Doreen (always full of laughter).

The last 17 months were spent at Jocelyn House Hospice. Being a small facility, we all got to know the staff well and greatly appreciated all that they were able to do for mom. Thank you so much.

As per pandemic restrictions, we will not gather to say good-bye. Please remember mom the next time you see a deer or a butterfly and know she is now at peace. Donations can be made to Jocelyn House Hospice or CancerCare Manitoba.
