August 31, 1949 – October 19, 2023
Sadly and suddenly our beautiful Sally passed away at St.Boniface hospital with her husband and son at her side. Sally was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and true friend.
Sally is survived by her loving husband, Don, of 53 years, her daughter Michelle (Dean), her son Robert (Debbie) and Joelle; grandchildren Aislyn, Kobi, Gavin, Jordan, Morgan, Erica & Ashtyn. Extended family members Candy Storey, Larry Storey, Janet & Scott Miller, Wendy Chester and many nieces and nephews.
Sally was predeceased by Wanda & Jack Storey, Tom Storey, Don & Gail McClinchey.
Sally met Don when she was 16 years old. They married on November 1,1969 and lived in East Kildonan for their entire married life. Don and Sally were an inseparable pair, always finding new adventures together. As a young married couple, Don and Sally enjoyed camping at Clear Lake on weekends, spending time with friends and enjoyed time spent with their many dogs.
Sally was an amazing Mom and loved her kids more than anything. Sally raised a beautiful family with Don. During these years, Sally volunteered for Girl Guides and schools that Michelle & Rob attended.
Sally had lots of friends. She was warm, caring, and always put the needs of other people first. It was easy to be around her infectious energy and positive spirit. Bonnie was Sally’s best friend. They spent many years laughing together, bowling and planning parties. They held each other up when times were tough and celebrated the big moments in life with gusto and a big bottle of wine!
Sally worked for the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission for 25 years where she enjoyed a progressive career and was loved by many at MLCC.
Sally and Don started retirement and found great joy in being grandparents. They were the loudest cheer team at hockey, football, soccer games and dance recitals. Sally would love nothing more than to have her grandchildren sleepover, so she and Don could take them to the movies. Sally was the best grandmother it was possible to have.
Sally loved all sports! She loved the Blue Jays, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Don and Sally renewed their marriage vows when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in front of their family and friends in 2019.
Sally played every role in her life with love and devotion. She loved parties and bringing people together. She loved the simple things in life; her backyard, the garden, Christmas, baking, dinners with her family, knitting, and sewing. But most of all, she loved the people who surrounded her, Don, their kids, grandkids, extended family, and friends.
Her leaving us has left a terrible hole in our lives. Our lives will never be quite the same again and our hearts hurt. We will deeply miss her beautiful spirit, kindness, gentleness but also her fierceness and strength. She loved us all unconditionally.
A celebration of Sally’s life will take place on October 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue.

Sally, I so wish I had met you in person. Had I lived in Canada, instead of in my Mother’s homeland England, I know you would have been top of my ‘go to’ list of people. We could have had such fun together and made many happy memories.
Rest in peace sweetheart.
I am so sorry to hear about Sally, I am Don’s cousin and live in B.C. so only met her a couple of times,. I wish I could have known her better. Hugs and condolences to Don and the whole Chester clan.

We were so saddened to hear of Sally’s passing. We will miss her warm encompassing personality. A lovely lady, friend and caring in-law. We will miss hearing “Hi Hon” said whenever we saw her. A kind soul gone too soon. Our heart aches for Don, our son-in-law Rob, daughter Debbie and grandchildren Aislyn, Gavin and Morgan and to Michelle, Dean, Koby and Jordan. Our deepest condolences to them and to all other friends and family members. With our love, Toshio and Susan Nishi
Dear Don, Rob and Michelle
So sad to hear that Sally passed away. I enjoyed each and every moment that we spent together, wether at work or having lunches or dinners to catch up with news about our lives and grandkids. She was a joy to be around and I will miss her dearly.
Sorry I couldn’t be you at this time as I am out of the province.
I hope you find peace remembering the beautiful moments you shared together.
With love,

Condolences to the family. I worked with Sally for most of her career at the MLCC. She was always a joy to be around, fun positive individual even when the walls seemed to be crumbling around. When we were working late on a project she would comment, I would get them out of here by 6:30 because I didn’t want to miss Vanna…. Will miss Sally….
I am so sorry for your loss, Sally was such a wonderful caring and cheerful person. Heartfelt condolences from Connor and me and all the best to you all.
It was only today, on her birthday, that I saw the notice of her passing on her FB page. It sent such a feeling of shock and loss through me. I think of all the hours we spent together volunteering at Polson School, over coffee, or watching the Daytime Emmys (with vodka and orange..) She was a true friend. Don, Michelle, and Robbie, I send you my deepest condolences.
