April 6, 1952 – January 14, 2022
Ron passed away peacefully to be in the presence of the Lord on January 14, 2022 at Vista Park Lodge. He will be lovingly remembered by his sweet heart Rose (Rosella), son Christopher, and granddaughter Gabriella.
Ron will also be remembered by his sisters Patricia (Alphonse) Richard and Marsha (Rodney) Patterson, brothers Ken Woods, Philip (Gwen), Martin (Dianne), Frank (Debra), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His in-laws, the Wiebe family, also held a special place in his heart.
He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Gertrude Blackburn, sister Sharon, and brothers Walter, William, Frederick, and his twin Donald. Also his in-laws Cornie and Nettie, Marilyn, and Shane.
Ron was born in Nova Scotia and considered himself a proud “Blue Noser”. He was a hard working man, taking pride in doing a job well done. Ron worked at U of M as a utility caretaker, retiring after 26 years in April 2007.
Wanting to stay busy, he continued to work at St. Norbert Community Center until 2014. Ron enjoyed traveling, being with family, jokes, and a good laugh.
We would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Vista Park Lodge for taking care of Ron in his two units.

Dear Rose,
I am very sorry to hear about the death of Ron. We all enjoyed knowing him through our contact with you as a care giver when the kids were little. I know how difficult grieving is during Covid as we lost Prasad due to a heart attack last February. I wish you strength and courage in the days ahead. I know that the love of your dear ones will help you along the way.
