August 18th, 1965 – February 20th, 2022
Suddenly, on February 20th, 2022, Robert Mickoski, passed away at the age of 56 years old.
Robert will be missed by his son, Scott Mickoski, as well as his cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Leona, brother Martin, and Aunt Sophie Stockmall.
Robert was born in Winnipeg on August 18th, 1965. He attended Luxton School and St. John’s High School.
He began working in the taxicab industry along with his dad and brother at 16 years old. Later in his career, he explored other adventures including Yogen Fruz, Club Regent Casino and window installations.
As he grew up in his early years, he loved playing hockey. He liked to reminisce about the games at Luxton Community Centre. The neighbourhood kids would meet up for a skate and a game of shinny throughout the winter.
In his early teens, his passion had switched to golf. Robert enjoyed many rounds at challenging courses throughout Manitoba and the United States. The friendships he made at Elmhurst and Pine Ridge Golf Courses were invaluable to him. The challenging courses brought on laughter, good times and camaraderie among friends.
Robert travelled to Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Virgin Islands, Florida and B.C. with his family and friends. He would always come back ready to share the stories of the golf courses he played, restaurants he went to and the sight-seeing along the way.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Robert’s life at a future date.
Donations can be made to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba in Robert’s name.
Scott Mickoski, and his mom, Adele Mickoski, wish to thank all the support of the family and friends who have reached out to us during this difficult time.
Rest in peace Dad. May you be free of pain and sorrow. I will love you forever, until we meet again.

GO FALCONS GO
I met Robert at Luxton School and have many fond memories of that time like him taking me to his house to meet his mom and showing me his dad’s hockey memorabilia and attending Camp Arnes to name a few. Also, later we used to hang out at Nordic and Sportsman’s Billiards and shoot Snooker. Lost touch over the last several years but will always remember the good times. RIP Robert see you on the other side one day 🙏

Always with a smile, a laugh and a joke. Most times mimicking the swings on the first tee of his playing foursome. Robert you were as funny on the golf course as off of it. You were unique…. Elmhurst club mate for many years.
Robert had a heart of gold. I miss him but we will meet again. …. Mike H…

RIP buddy – I’ll remember the fun times and the good times we had working together at Club Regent – until we meet again – my friend. John Moroz
Every conversation always ended with a story! Even made it to a few of Scott’s games. He was very proud of you! My sincere condolences.
Hey Robert. Going to miss all the stories and your friendship
Rest in peace 🙏
Scott & Adelle, I’m very sorry for your loss.
My family moved in across the street from the Mickoskis on St. Cross in the mid 70’s. Our families became good friends. We shared Christmas dinners and other occasions. Robert introduced me to the area and watched out for me. He gave me my first bike and showed me how to put a hockey card in the spokes to make it sound like a motorcycle. He took me to WHA games, taught me how to raise the puck and told me which teachers I should avoid at St. Johns. When I saw him he was always positive and making jokes. He was the big brother I never had.
I didn’t see as much of Robert when we got older but we would run into each other now and again. He would always take the opportunity to tell me how Scott was doing (referring to him as “Scotty”)
I miss you big guy. I’m forever grateful for his kindness, generosity and guidance. All my love until we meet again.
