December 9, 1949 – August 3, 2024
Bob passed away suddenly but peacefully on August 3, 2024, after a lengthy 18-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his loving wife, Marianne; two sons, Michael and David (Samira); brother Brian (Lauretta), brother-in-law Donald Suwala; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob began his career as an apprentice electrician in construction. He later acquired his designation as a certified Electrical Engineering Technologist and worked at Manitoba Hydro for several years before pursuing a career as a vocational teacher to share his passion for electrical and electronics at Tec-Voc High School before moving to Kildonan East Collegiate. While teaching full-time and raising a young family, he received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba. Bob led some of his students to win competitions at Skills Canada and the Manitoba Robot Games, and he taught summer and weekend electronics classes for kids interested in the STEM fields.
His interests included computers, robotics, and photography. In retirement, he took up lapidary and expanded his collection of rocks and minerals.
For the last 10 months, Bob resided at Golden Links Lodge. Sincere appreciation to the staff and medical team for their care and compassion.
His wishes were for a cremation and no funeral service.

Thanks for everything Mr Kurz. You helped turn my passion for electronics into a skillet I could use to launch a great career.
