October 12, 1933 – February 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Harder at the age of 91. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. On February 15, 2025, Philip went home to be with his personal Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Born on October 12, 1933, in Lowe Farm, Manitoba. Philip lived a life filled with faith, love, and service to others. His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and generosity will be deeply missed, but his impact on the lives of those who knew him will never be forgotten.
Philip and his wife Lorna life’s journey took them to various places, including Cochrane, Ontario, where Philip worked in the oil drilling industry. He later worked for Swan River Transfer and Kingsway Transfer companies. In 1981, Philip and Lorna embarked on a new venture, owning and operating the “Hi-way Motel” in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, until 2004.
Philip had a passion for travel, with Alaska being his favourite destination. His favourite day time activities were reading the bible, listening to his favourite radio station in Steinbach, watching his favourite ministers on TV and the news. He was never one to sit idle, he enjoyed working on various projects around the house and landscaping. Even as his health declined, Philip’s love for tinkering remained, and he was saddened when his tools fell silent.
It’s beautiful to see how Philip found love again after a great loss. He married Cecile, his sweetheart, in the Philippines in 2011, and it’s clear that she brought immense joy and companionship into his life. Her unconditional love and care for him over the years is truly something we are all grateful for.
Philip was predeceased by his first wife, Lorna; daughter, Cindy; and stepsons, Sammy and Raymond. He is survived by his loving wife, Cecile; children Eileen (Sam), Lloyd (Isolina), and Jason; stepchildren Gerard, Eugene (Cris)and Glenn; numerous grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
We take comfort in knowing that Philip is now at peace, in the presence of his Saviour. We will cherish the memories of his love, guidance, and unwavering support.
His Homegoing will be held on February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at McBey Ave in Winnipeg, MB. Viewing to be held one hour prior to service. Refreshments to follow. Interment at Chapel Lawn.
Enjoy Heaven Dad! Your love and legacy will live on in our hearts.
“Last man standing!”
