August 23rd, 1970 – January 24th, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick “Pat” Clifford Stevenson announces his passing after a short fight with lung cancer.  Pat passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Friday, January 24, at the age of 49 years.

Pat is survived by his love and partner of 20 years, Jodie; his mother Dorothy, brother Robin and sister in law Tamara and youngest brother Tim.  He also leaves behind his nephews and nieces, Joe, Jenna, Ethan and Kaitlyn.  Pat will also be missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Pat was predeceased by his father Allan.

Pat was the eldest son, born on August 23, 1970 to Allan and Dorothy Stevenson. Pat grew up in the Westwood part of Winnipeg and had a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime.  The last ten years he has worked at Magellan Aerospace in the maintenance department where he was liked by everyone and took great pride in the job he did.   Pat was a car guy, who loved adventures and just going for a drive.  He was also a great fan of the Blue Bombers and was very happy when they brought home the Grey Cup this year.  He loved visiting his friends Nicole and Ralph in BC and had a special bond with his little friend Tannis.

The last four months was difficult for Pat and his family, as they learned of his diagnosis and he fought hard for the time he had left.  He spent his time between the Grace Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and Seven Oaks Hospital, before finally being moved to Grace Hospice where he spent the last 3 weeks of his life.  The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and hospital staff who helped in the care of Pat.  We would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at the Grace Hospice.  This beautiful facility was so welcoming and became our home away from home allowing us to be with Pat when he needed us the most.

Message from Jodie:

Pat always had a way of making me laugh with his silly behaviour.  I will never forget all our trips out to South Beach Casino and time spent out at Chesley’s.  I miss you already and will definitely miss all your hugs and kisses.  Thank you for being a part of my life.  Love you!

Message from Mom:

“Pat clean up your room!”  hahaha

Message from brother Rob:

My brother in heaven,

I wasn’t ready for you to go.

Aside from your pain,

I wished you could stay.

Your time here, far too short,

So much to see and so much to do.

Although you cannot be with me,

You will always be in my memories.

Message from brother Tim:

“See you at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe!” (Reference to one of his favourite books/movies)

A small private family memorial and spreading of ashes will happen at a later date.  In lieu of flowers you can make donations to the Grace Hospice through the Grace Hospital Foundation.

  1. I’m so glad that I got the call when Patrick was still lucid and we could joke about climbing and falling out of trees together In our mis-spent youth. I wish my radio could receive and communicate back but I can only listen to the messages I sense.

Namaste Patrick. We are here and are listening

  2. I was blessed to have spent many a sunday at the Stevenson Family dinner table. Pat often started the conversations with his beloved Blue Bombers, their play mishaps, and coaching errors. I remember jokes he would tell and Jodie laughing so hard she was tearing up. Pat was so passionate about the things that were important to him, and always had a funny one liner about random subjects. My memories of those dinners will always be some of my best memories. It pains my heart to know that there will be 2 empty spots at that table.
For the family the sorrow of losing a loved one doesn’t pass in a day, a week, a month, or a year. It doesn’t stop hurting, we learn to remember their love, sacrifices, and their character, as opposed to the emptiness they leave behind. Things will never be the same. My deepest condolences as you grieve the loss of Pat. He will be missed.

  3. Nicole,Ralph and Tannis

    Hey George,its Frank….hahahahah

Nothing can put into words what you have meant to me. Even know,I am having a hard time typing this.

You welcomed me into your heart and called me family. You became more like a big brother to me then a friend. We sure had great times having fun and embarrassing Monster. I will never forget the first time we met and you thought I was just some crazy chick that lived down the hall that was talking to her fish…Here fishie, fishie.
I’m glad you got me more into football then I was before and we enjoyed a game or 2 together at the stadium.
I will pass along as many PG rated memories as I can to Tannis,so she will know the good hearted, warm and loveable person you are. The bond you had with her was something special. She loved the time she was able to spend with you and something I’ll make sure she cherishes all the time. You will always always have a place in all 3 of our hearts. Love you and miss you more then words can say.

    Is it June yet???

  4. Pat I will never forget you,
You were one of the best guys to work with.
I will remember all the laughs we had and will miss you sitting around the camp fires and at our place every Christmas Eve
    God speed my friend

  5. Very sad to hear about Pat passing away. Pat was my best friend for a number of years when we were in our late teens and I have many fond memories of the time we spent together. I have thought about Pat off and on for a few years and regret not reaching out to him in the past few years to reconnect. My condolences to Jodie and the rest of his family.
