Niles Dallas Whitesell

Niles Dallas Whitesell
November 23, 1972 – May 7, 2021

With the deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Nile Whitesell at the age of 48. Niles passed on Friday, May, 7th after a courageous battle with Covid with family by his side.

Niles is survived by his children Nicholas, Nicole, Daniel, and granddaughter Kalicee, his parents Mary and Dallas Whitesell, brother Lionel (Marie Bunn), sister Julieanna (Darren Baggley) as well as his niece Chantel (Trevor Clark), and nephews Ryan (Sydney Plaisier) and Drayden Baggley.

Niles was especially close to his cousin Scotty (Joy Whitesell) who he worked many years with. His auntie Wanda (Joe Neadeau) and Karoline (Al Perez) who he lived within Long Beach, California for a while. His childhood friend Derek (Candice Hart) who was like a brother to him and his business partner and long-time friend Sam Anderson and special friend Michelle Richard. We also would like to acknowledge the overwhelming support from all family and friends. It was heartbreaking to see how many people he touched and will remember him in such fond ways.

Niles was a man of hard work, integrity and respect. His wit and fast-talking ways awarded him with many long last friendships. One of Niles is most admirable traits was his unique ability to connect with anyone and everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him. Those who knew Niles, knew he loved to laugh and was a big dreamer. He was a teammate, best man, positive/negative influencer, a confidant and for most of his friends a Vegas buddy. He always had to you tell you about the next amazing business idea, or just to sit and tell you a joke. His laughter was contagious, and his smile was amazing.
Niles, we are sad to see you were not able to fulfill your dreams, but your memory will be with us forever.

Due to covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  1. Had the pleasure of getting to know Niles through our annual hockey tournament in Las Vegas. He was a great guy who made a lot of the tourney days really memorable. He will truly be missed!! RIP, my friend!! All the 4B’s.

The loss of this kind man will leave a void in all of the lives he touched. The Vegas hockey tournament will never be the same without him gliding around the ice and choking down a beer on the bench. Niles you will be missed, I was very fortunate to have our paths cross, thank you for being who you were. On a final thought Fuck you COVID.

  3. I can say without a doubt Niles was one that you would never forget if you met him. He could always lighten the mood with his humor, truly a gift. It was purely a pleasure to share the ice and several memorable weekends in Vegas with him lots of laughs and good times. Another one gone way too soon. Until we can lace em up again my friend!!

  4. Niles was like a big brother and we reconnected. So many laughs and good times and always called me to join an adventure. Niles you will be so missed and I will always remember your usual remark when I asked how u are “ you know just a brown man trying to make it in a white world” 😂😂. Rest In Peace. Till we meet again ♥️

  5. My deepest condolences to the family as my heart goes out to you all. Niles, Derek and I had amazing times in Jr. High and into High School. We spent so much time together and had all sorts of fun. Niles was an amazing person, I can certainly see the love and joy he brought to everyone. He was a great friend and someone who always had your back. I wanted to share this picture of the three of us at a Career Fair we went to in Jr. High at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Although we had lost touch over the years, I still regard him as one of my greatest friends…you will be missed buddy.

  6. Sorry to hear of his passing. Still remember he and Derek in the ‘Smart Kids’ class at Kelvin high school. The two of them were always quick with a smile, and have fond memories of their banter. Rest In Peace.

  7. Our condolences to Dallas and Mary from all of your friends at the Duke of Kent Legion. It seems like only yesterday that Niles was playing football !

We have grown apart from the family in recent years but you are always in our hearts.
