June 30, 1931 – September 24, 2021
On September 24, 2021 our beautiful angel of a mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at her place of residence in Gilbert Plains, MB. Predeceased by her parents John and Alice Storozynsky; her beautiful daughter Jacquie; her infant son Steven Michael and her husband Edward Babiuk. She leaves behind her four surviving children Darlene (Ed), Terry (Pat), Darcee (Rich) and James; son-in-law Joe Garcia; along with ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and multitudes of close family to celebrate and share her love of life and family.
Millie was born June 30, 1931 to Alice and John Storozynsky in Shortdale, MB. She grew up on her parent’s farm until she met her future husband Ed. Millie married Edward Babiuk in Gilbert Plains on November 5, 1954 and they then made their home in Winnipeg, MB. In August of 1955 they started a family and it eventually blossomed to five. Millie was a gifted and multi-talented woman who traversed a multitude of professions during her life at the same time raising a family. Her very many interests included restaurant cook, hairdresser, dressmaker, cake baker-decorator and university caretaker/cook. She not only excelled at each but she put her heart and soul into each like no other. Detail and perfection were the only options for her.
Her fondness for Christmas was legendary and family meant everything. This was epitomized by the elaborate feasts fit for royalty and her ever growing Xmas village always under her tree. Gifts and love always seemed to find their way into our hands and hearts. She had a passion for ballroom dancing even becoming a waltz champion.
Our family would like to thank the personnel at the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home for their service and caring for our mother. We are grateful.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg MB, followed by refreshments. Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

Yes she was a beautiful angel and we can attest to her baking as she made our wedding cake for us.

My cousin Mildred was one of the most generous people I have known. She loved giving. One year she sent me a big, delicious home-made Christmas cake. The postage must have cost at least twice as much as the ingredients. That was Mildred! I will never forget her smile and her generous heart.
