May 4th, 1939 – March 24th, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and wife on March 24th, 2025.
Marion was born on May 4th, 1939, on Java in Indonesia. She grew up in the Netherlands with her mother and brother.
In 1971 she immigrated to Canada. Following her brother. She worked at McMaster university in the Cataloguing department in Hamilton Ontario. There she met her husband Jens through a friend in October 1972. In March 23rd, 1973, she got married, and a year late had twin boys Edwin and Thomas. She moved to Winnipeg in 1974. There she had her third son Eric.
She did the farm life for a while.
Her family was the love of her life. She never criticizes anyone for their choices in life but encouraged them.
She loved reading books, mysteries to science fiction. The Dragon Riders by Anne Mcaffery, to Star-Trek, and Star Wars. Later in life it was Poirot and Father Brown.
Over the years she visited Alberta (dinosaur park) North and South Dakota, (Mall of America), Duluth (harbour boat ride) and numerous places in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She loved to travel.
She is survived by her husband Jens and sons Edwin, Thomas, Eric, and many friends and extended family.
We wish to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital and Seven Oaks Hospital. Thank you.
Cremation has taken place, and a small service will be performed in the summer.
