Lukas Paul

November 15, 1936 – January 1, 2025

It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Lukas Paul. Lukas passed away at the Grace Hospital on January 1, 2025, at the age of 88.

Forever cherishing his memory are his beloved wife Roswitha and son Stuart. Lukas was predeceased by his parents Josef and Hedwig, his sisters Maria (Willy) and Gertraud (Herbert), and his brother Bernhard. He is survived and lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews in Germany.

Lukas loved to go fishing. His favorite places were Caddy and Westhawk Lake. He always said you should have seen the one that got away. Lukas was a teacher at Stoney Mountain Penitentiary.

You could call him “Mr. Fix-It”. He did plumbing, electrical, flooring, cabinetry, and fixed cars. He also trained dogs for the Winnipeg Police Department for a few years.

A thank you to all the home care workers, you were all very kind.

He will be deeply missed by all, especially his wife and son.

Although we grieve his passing, the end of his suffering relieves us. Rest in peace Mein Schatz.

Should you go first and I remain
to walk the road alone
I’ll live in memory’s garden, dear,
with happy days we’ve known
In spring I’ll wait for roses red
when fades the lilac’s blue
In early fall when the brown leaves call
I’ll catch a glimpse of you
Should you go first and I remain
for battles to be fought
Each thing you’ve touched along the way
will be a hallowed spot
I’ll hear your voice and I’ll see your smile
And though blindly I may grope
The memory of your helping hand
will buoy me on with hope
Should you go first and I remain
one thing I’ll have you do
Walk slowly down that long, long path
for soon I’ll follow you
And I want to know each step you take
that I may walk the same
For someday down that lonely road
You’ll hear me call your name.
