March 19, 1935 – April 12, 2025
It is with heartbreaking and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, sister, and grandmother at the age of 90 on April 12, 2025.
Loreen is survived by her sons Joe (Cindy), Jim (Judy) and Danny (Corina), whom she loved beyond measure; her sister Sharon (late Garry), who supported her in good times and bad – we found laughter in the least little things – like laughing like crazy while rummaging through her trunk for nothing in particular. We found humor in nothing at all! Also, surviving mom is her three grandchildren, Nik, Jacob, and Willie; and her great-granddaughter, born in November 2018.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2001. She lost her beloved brother, Theo, way too soon.
Mom grew up in West Kildonan and worked for T. Eaton Co. as a speed typist.
Loreen married Bill (a Naval Petty Officer) in 1961, lived in Victoria, B.C., then moved to Pinawa and stayed there for 34 years, and took care of her mother for 24 of those years. Mom also worked for Atomic Energy of Canada. She then moved to Winnipeg in 2003. Mom beat her bout with cancer in 1999.
Loreen went skydiving (solo) at the age of 63.
Mom’s favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas, which she visited 13 times over the years.
Mom loved her son Joe for his never-ending patience – you always knew how to make things better when they seemed so unfixable, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Mom also loved her son Jim for his support and the special times – the treats and the many glasses of wine.
Loreen’s family wishes to thank the staff at 2-South at Donwood Personal Care Home for the care and comfort they provided for our mom for the last two years, especially in the last few months and days.
Cremation has taken place, and at Loreen’s request, there will be no service. A small family service and interment will take place at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Humane Society.
“Until we meet again” – Moses (Jim R.)

I worked with Loreen for many years at Kesey House and she was a lot of fun. Unfortunately we lost touch when she moved to Winnipeg. Deepest sympathy to her family. I know how much she loved her “boys” because she never stopped taking about them. RIP Loreen.
