Lillian Bruneau Jenken Gibson

1929 – 2024

It is with such huge sadness we announce the passing of Lillian Bruneau Jenken Gibson on October 10, 2024, at the amazing age of 95 years old.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rose Bruneau Zbaraschuk and Honora Bruneau, and siblings Emma Bernardin, Anna Dandeneau, Leandre Bruneau, Aime Bruneau, Hector Bruneau, and Therese Wallack. She was also predeceased by her beautiful baby son, Theodore Jenken, and oldest son Ron Jenken.

Lillian leaves behind her children Diane Stubbington, Doris Bryan, Dan (Barb) Jenken, Mark (Jo-El) Jenken, and Carrie-Lynn Jenken and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Born April 3, 1929, in Rainy River District Ontario, she lived a brave and adventurous life caring for her young children while her husband often worked up in the mines and only came home occasionally on weekends. They married in Fisher Branch at a very young age and moved into a Grainary to start their family. They moved from Fisher Branch to MacKenzie Island, Ontario to Lac Du Bonnet then back to Fisher Branch.

After the death of her precious baby Theodore, who died in her arms on the way to the Winnipeg Hospital, they moved to the city and started a city life. Her strength and bravery to survive her difficult life was beyond amazing.

She left this world and moved on to a better life with two of her children holding her hands and two of her grandchildren present.

The family would like to thank the staff at River East Personal Care Home for their endless kindness and their support for Mom.

A memorial service to honour her life and strength will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy.
