Ken James Frank

Ken James Frank
March 3, 1954 – September 20, 2024

Ken fought the good fight. He loved his family and friends dearly.

He is cherished by his loving wife Debbie; daughter Trish (Jay); son Robert; and his beautiful grandchildren Brooke and Alice, Declan, Marek, and Bennett. He will also be missed by his sister Doreen (Garth) and brother Dave (Beth).

Ken loved motorcycles and camping. He described the feeling of being on the bike as a feeling of freedom. Riding was a passion, a joy, and a stress reliever for Ken. He enjoyed being outdoors in the summer at the trailer. He started building fishing boats as a young boy with his dad Robert in West St. Paul. The Alumarine fishing boat can be found on many waterways to this day.

Thank you to the family and friends who stood by Ken since his cancer diagnosis in December of 2022. Thank you to Dr. Goldenberg and the exceptional staff at St Boniface Hospital.

A celebration of Ken’s amazing life will be held at a later date.

In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be there! When you look at the moon on a warm summer evening think of Ken.

  1. My hearts are with you all who are hurting. Mr. Frank was an amazing guy with a big heart, that stood out in my life. I know this has hurt so many people so I pray for healing over your family in Jesus’ name. His body was hurting here so he has been promoted to a place where death has no sting. It’s so hard to let go, for those left behind, but he is up there advocating for his family and you know he loves you all.

  2. Ken and I did quite a bit of business together over the years while he was at Alumarine Boats and I was in the steel industry.
Even though we may have only spoken or visited every month or two, I always appreciated that neither of us had to say who was calling and that was long before call display.
He always recognized my voice and was a pleasure to deal with. I believe we both helped and understood each other and for that I am grateful to have had the chance to work with him.
It is amazing that you can become friends through business and yet not truly know the other person as well as you think.
A true gentleman that made part of my work life much more enjoyable.

    Thanks Ken.

    My condolences to his family.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Ken who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. As we had lost our sister, Eleanor in 2021 and brother-in-law, Jack in 2023 and most recently, our brother, Ron, in 2024, Ken’s death was simply overwhelming to us. Ken’s remaining siblings are his brother, David (Beth) Frank in Kelowna, and sister, Doreen (Garth) Skinner in Winnipeg and nephews and nieces in Winnipeg, Prince Albert and Calgary.
Ken worked in the family fishing boat manufacturing business with his father, Robert Frank, and later for many years with his brother, Ronald, in establishing Alumarine Boats Ltd. Ken later took over the business and moved it to Main Street for better marketing exposure. Today, the Alumarine Boats name is still being marketed by a large corporation in Prince Albert, SK and is still known as one of the finest fishing boats in the industry.
Ken was the youngest sibling of five and was raised on the family farm in West St. Paul, MB. He was a sincere and loving brother who always kept his promises to his family and friends. Ken will always have a special place in our hearts as he lived his life serving others and was generous with his praise and mentorship.
Ken is now home with the Lord who carried him when there was only one set of footprints in the sand.
With our love and deepest sympathy to all the Frank family who will miss and love Ken forever.
Doreen & Garth Skinner, Sister and Brother-in-Law, Winnipeg, MB
