1934-2019
On Tuesday, January 15, Joyce quietly passed away with family by her side. Her joyful nature and sunny disposition were bright lights for the entire family and she will be sorely missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Lyndon, and has suffered from heartache and loneliness since his departure one year ago, after 62 years of marriage.
She leaves behind daughters, Shelley Turnbull (Gary), Gayle Jarvis and Lynda Long (Mitch); grandchildren Matthew, Martin, Megan (Jon), Derek, and Claire (Finley); along with her sister Judy Wright in Surrey, England.
For the past few years, dementia had dampened Joyce’s passion for life and her ability to be creative, but had only intensified the love and devotion to her family. Many times each day, as she looked at family photos, or visited with her daughters, she would recite the names and stories of each member of her family. Her heart was wide open and in her presence one could feel her warmth and love. Joyce thrived on being productive and cooking was her first passion. Singing, dancing, quilting, sewing, reading and being a lifelong learner kept her busy. She shared her opinions freely! She sang constantly and never forgot the words.
A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, at Meadowood United Church at 2:00 p.m.
She constantly emphasized the value of a smile, so please smile at someone today in her honour.
