November 12, 1933 – December 14, 2024
Mom died peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of December 14, 2024.
She was predeceased by her husband Michael and is survived by her children Alison, (Colin), Stuart, Alex (Helen) and Nancy (Thomas); grandchildren Andrea, Ainsley (Ian), Quinn (Sydney) and Christiane (Patrick); and great-grandchild Theo.
Except for a few years in Victoria mom was a lifelong Winnipegger. She was not a fan of Winnipeg’s cold weather.
She lived for the warmer months and spending time at her beloved cottage at Victoria Beach where she spent years enjoying the company of family, friends, and the occasional white wine spritzer, with exactly eight ice cubes. At the lake mom was an enthusiastic tennis player.
A fierce competitor, she played for years with the highlight of her career being her multiple victories at the Victoria Beach Over 50 mixed tournament. No one who played against mom was likely to forget the experience.
Over the years mom enjoyed travelling to different destinations. Her favorite place was Sarasota, Florida where she spent many vacations with dad enjoying the company of her good friends and occasionally family. Mom also enjoyed Bridge and getting together with friends for a party wherever she was.
Mom wanted to live out her life in her home. She was mentally sharp until the end and we are grateful she was able to live this wish up until the last few weeks of her life.
Flowers gratefully declined.
Donations in mom’s memory can be made to the Lake Winnipeg Foundation (Homepage | Lake Winnipeg Foundation) or the charity of your choice.
A private family service will be planned in the future.
Don’t look so sad, I know it’s over
But life goes on and this old world will keep on turning
Let’s just be glad we had some time to spend together
Peace Mom.
