March 17, 1952 – April 28, 2021
Peacefully, after a 3 ½ year battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Jim passed peacefully with his wife Jenny of 48 years at his side.
He was predeceased by his parents Henry Hildebrand and Mary Hiebert and parent’s in-law Henry and Susan Friesen.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jenny, sons Jeremy (Venessa) and Jeff (Vicky) and Grand- daughters Ava and Mila who were his angels.
Brothers Clarence (Nadia), Otto (Elaine), sister Verna (Karl) and in-laws Orlando and Shelley, Vivian and Vern, Rhonda and Marv, Wally, Howard and Barb, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim loved family gatherings and enjoyed all the great food that came with them, especially the taco dip that Rhonda would make.
Many summer weekends were spent at Granite Lake with great friends, creating lasting memories that his family will always cherish.
Jim ran his own business Hilbro Glass for many years selling and installing windows and doors. He was also a handyman who could fix almost anything.
He was an avid sports fan, participant and a longtime member of the Fort Rouge Curling Club. Many nights were spent watching his team play and enjoying the pizza and beers afterwards. One of his greatest joys was coaching Jeremy and Jeff in baseball.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Center Unit 3 West for taking such good care of Jim during his stay there and all the family, friends and neighbors that have reached out to us.
Rest in peace Jim. Love you.
As per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Due to Co-vid restrictions a private family service will take place and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.

I met Jim in 1966. Always had a few laughs talking about guys from Altona. Jim told me he was my brother-in-law Stan Giesbrecht’s, favorite nephew. LOL.
Condolences to Jenny and the family. Jim was a great guy!
Sincere condolences to all of Jim’s family. His life story told in the obituary is heartwarming; you will all miss him!
My name is Dorothy (Hildebrand) Braun. I remember fondly the many visits our family (Cornie and Agatha Hildebrand) we had in Sommerfeld, with Jim’s family, and the whole extended Hildebrand family. His Grandparents were our “substitute” grandparents when my Grandparents were in Paraguay, so we were able to spend many holiday times together. I’ve wondered sometimes, where have all the second cousins gone. It was good to see the picture of the siblings and your Mom. Cherish the memories!
Sincerely,
Dorothy Braun, Winnipeg

Our condolences on Jim’s passing. I spent a year working with Jim in my early twenties and we spent several wonderful years curling together which I will fondly remember. You will always be remembered as a truly good friend.
