Helen Grismer Eibner (née Bayluk)

Helen Grismer Eibner nee Bayluk

October 10, 1918 – February 15, 2022

Peacefully on February 15, 2022, Mom slipped away to join Dad on their next big adventure together.

Mom was born on October 10, 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Thomas Anton (Tony) and Anna Bayluk. Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband Edward J. Eibner and infant baby Edward Eibner, and grandson Michael Holtman, and great granddaughter Kayla Holtman. Left to cherish Helen’s memory are her children: Richard (Annette), Bernadette (Howard), Valerie (and Gwen); grandchildren Jason (Cheryl) and Amy Black (Sandy); great grandchildren Liara and Alexis, Michael and Nathan.

Mom enjoyed travelling with her young family. In later years Mom and Dad did more international travel and cruises. Mom loved to cook. She cut out many, many recipes from magazines and newspapers because she always liked to make different dishes. She made every effort to instill in her children her ethnic upbringing by spending lots of time with their Ukrainian grandparents. They would treasure their visits into Grandma Bayluk’s house for fresh jam busters, a bowl of beet borscht, and the many traditional Ukrainian dishes.

She was very committed to taking care of herself; whether it was doing exercises to the Jack LaLanne show, and then with her own fitness routine well into her 90’s. She was proud to be a ‘mall walker’ where she would spend hours visiting with her friends and got all her walking done. She loved to shop, like really loved to shop! She could always find a bargain whether it was for something she needed or just liked. All of her outfits were well coordinated; she was a very classy lady!

Mom loved her family and always felt sad when they were not close by. She loved her weekends in the country. Renbiede Bush was the family getaway where she really enjoyed visiting with the children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor for their exceptional care and support given to our mother for the past eight years.

In Mom’s own words — “I’ve gone kaput, good-bye Charlie”.

Cremation has taken place and private family celebration of life and interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, because of Helen’s love of animals, donations may be made to your local No-Kill Animal Shelter and the CancerCare Manitoba.
