August 8, 1946 – February 24, 2025
With great sadness we announce the passing of Heather Carroll, 78, of Winnipeg, MB, on February 24, 2025. Heather was born on August 8, 1946 in Winnipeg where she lived her entire life. After graduating from St. John’s High School, Heather went on to work many years in the food production and wholesale industries.
Heather is survived by her son Chris, daughter-in-law Jenn, beloved grandsons Daniel and Grant as well as other relatives and friends. Heather was predeceased by her mother Lily, brother Roland, and sister Janet. Family was very important to her.
Heather loved being a grandma and doted on her grandsons every chance she got. Her phone calls usually started with “How’s little Daniel and how’s little Grant?” Heather’s visits with the boys always started with sweet treats from one of grandma’s numerous shopping bags of stuff. Every table in her home always had a glass bowl of candies and treats. Jelly beans, jujubes, and milk chocolate macaroons were some of the regular favourites.
Heather enjoyed the numerous fun times with Chris’s friends growing up and her home was always a soft place to land to watch sports, play cards, and grab a drink. Heather loved hearing stories of all the antics that Chris and his friends had been up to.
Kind and generous Heather was always ready to listen and lend a helping hand to others in need. Heather enjoyed being outside in the summer watching for butterflies and visiting Winnipeg Beach. She often sat on her front step which reminded her of the old days growing up in the north end when “everyone” sat outside.
Heather was fond of sparkly sunglasses, jewellery, handbags, painted fingernails and her hair appointments. Never one to shy away from giving her opinion, Heather’s quips were well noted and often colourful, but were rooted in care and humour. Heather enjoyed a good snack or treat, and her favorite birthday supper was always homemade ribs and fries.
Heather loved and cared for several dogs she had over the years and missed having a dog when she moved into her apartment later in her life. In recent years, Heather enjoyed spending time at Bronx Park with friends for lunch, laughs, and card games.
Our small family will miss Heather dearly. Goodbye mom, grandma, and friend. A celebration of life to follow at a later date.

Chris and family, very sorry to hear about your Mom. I have many fond memories of her and hanging out at your home when we were kids. She was always very kind to me and I definitely remember the bowls of candy and her great sense of style.

Dear Chris, Jenn and boys, I was saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. Although we had not been in touch for a few years, I remember with great fondness our friendship and adventures. We spent many hours gossiping, laughing and enjoying great meals. We both loved Fall Suppers and tried to get as many in as possible every year; I think our record was 14 one season. Her many kindnesses to me, my husband and daughter were immeasurable. Somewhere in heaven there is an angel that is all blinged out and just a little more sparkly than the others. May her memory be your blessing. Linda Lenhardt
