Harvey Wilbur Moen

Harvey Wilbur Moen

June 17, 1940 – December 27, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Harvey Moen announces his passing on December 27, 2024, in Winnipeg, MB.

Harvey will be sadly missed by his children Robert (Glenda), Darren (Tammy), and Keith (Jodi); grandchildren Amy, Terrance, Leif and Ruby; and great-granddaughter Breanna. He is survived by his siblings Larry (Ann), Arlene (Don), their children and grandchildren, as well as our mother, Irene.

Harvey was born in Melville, SK on June 17, 1940, to Ernie and Dorothy Moen. At the age of 20 Harvey left the farm near Melville and took a two-day train ride up to Thompson, MB where he worked at the Inco Nickel Mine for 32 years until he retired in 1992. A challenging career in a purpose-built town, Harv never shied away from hard work. Around the shift work hours at “Mother Inco” he raised a family amidst curling, hockey, hunting and fishing in the North.

Harvey enjoyed his retirement in Winnipeg where he found great pleasure in gardening, yard work, his loon collection, and a strong connection to his A.A. community. Harv also enjoyed Calgary for many years before returning to Winnipeg. Even through many years of dementia, Harvey kept his humour right to the end and passed peacefully at Riverview Health Center.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Rest in peace, Dad, and as you would sometimes say to us “See ya, kiddo!”
